Fall Dance begins Tuesday, September 6
Our Philosophy & General Recommendations
Regardless of a student’s ultimate goal for dance, at Studio 82 we are
committed to giving all students the best possible dance education we can provide. Although we realize that many of our students will not go on to dance professionally, we do feel it is important to train and expose our dancers to all facets of a dance education.
For that reason, it is our recommendation that all students take ballet, as it is the foundation of all dance. In dance, the execution of more difficult steps is impossible without first mastering the basics of ballet technique. In addition, we STRONGLY suggest that students enroll in a technical jazz class prior to hip hop. Students wishing to participate in lyrical, modern or contemporary jazz must also take ballet as it provides the groundwork for these other disciplines.
Students wishing to move into advanced level classes should be taking a minimum of two ballet classes a week.
Please be sure that you have registered your e-mail with us If you do not have access to e-mail, please notify the desk and we will be sure to send home a hard copy of all info.

rules and regulations
Please take time to review the following Studio rules and regulations with your child, as we expect all students to abide by the following:
*Attendance is expected. Repeated absences in classes could result in being pulled from a particular class. During recital preparation, attendance becomes even more important.
*Students must be attentive in class and obtain permission to leave the room.
*Students must respect studio property and clean up after themselves in the restrooms and lobby.
PLEASE – NO FOOD WITH NUTS.
*Students must wait inside STUDIO 82 doors for rides. All students should be picked up in a timely matter.
*All dancers’ belongings must be put in the cubicles in the locker room. Dance bags, coats, etc., may not be kept on the floor in the locker room or in the halls. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN TO BRING ANY VALUABLES TO THE STUDIO AS WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.
*Students are not permitted behind the desk or in the office. Students are not permitted to touch any of the equipment in the rooms, including stereo and fitness materials.
*Proper dancewear is a MUST. The Dress Code is not negotiable and students not adhering to the Dress Code policy will not be permitted to take class.
*While classes are in progress, we expect students to be on their best behavior, both in and out of the classroom. There is no running or shouting in the halls or outside the studios. We expect polite and respectful dancers, both in and out of the classroom.
PLEASE give us the first few weeks to evaluate class placement to ensure dancers are in the appropriate class. Remember, just because a dancer can do a step, it does not mean that the step is being executed with proper technique. At STUDIO 82 we pride ourselves on our commitment to place your child in the appropriate level class. Our scheduling process begins with teacher evaluations before the dance year even ends, and continues with the beginning of the following school year. Although we do our best to schedule your child appropriately, placement may need to be readjusted once we see the classes together in the fall. Please trust that our staff wants your child to get the most out of his or her experience here, and will do what needs to be done to ensure that your child is in an appropriate level class.
The studio will follow the Strongsville City Schools advisory for closing. If a snow day is called for the Strongsville School System, all morning dance classes will be cancelled; HOWEVER, if the weather improves during the day, we may opt to open again for evening dance. If the weather is called due to COLD and not snow, we will still hold classes. PLEASE CHECK YOUR E-MAIL, WATCH THE TV, OR CALL THE STUDIO FOR UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION REGARDING SCHOOL CLOSINGS. Please note that we will always err in favor of the safety of our students. Snow days WILL NOT BE MADE UP, but we do encourage students to come in and make up for missed classes, as we offer over 60 classes a week.
In the event that a dancer cannot make a class due to illness or vacation, the desk will suggest make-up classes available. These make-ups may be taken at any time. THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS.
Studio 82 ~ 2017 recital DATE ~ TBA
One of the most exciting events of our year is the studio’s annual recital. Held every year, we pride ourselves on creating a Broadway style “show,” not just a typical dance recital. Participation in the recital is OPTIONAL. We feel having an annual recital gives our students something to work towards, and also gives our students an opportunity to “show off” what they have learned throughout the year. More information regarding the recital will be sent home at a later date. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the economic strain many families are facing, we want you to know that Studio 82, as a staff, is committed to keeping our costuming costs as reasonable as possible for our upcoming show.
